An exciting day!

I walked into Fountainview Mansion at 6:00 for the wedding that started at 6:15 and was greeted by the beautiful bride, Kim Bernie, saying "Gustav is coming!!" And it was true, Gustav was coming. There were heavy, dark clouds waiting to poor down rain over the outside ceremony. As I rushed outside to make sure the incredibly expensive YAMAHA keyboard was okay, anxiety and stress started building inside of me at the realization that something might happen to that keyboard if the rain came a 'pourin. Jack, the piano player, was playing on it and as soon as I sat down to help him hold the music that kept flying off the stand, huge alligator tears started falling on the keyboard...the keyboard that I provided for Kim but that I had on loan from Auburn High School. Well, the rain held off for the ceremony and all was well. (After I sat at the piano holding a ginormous umbrella.)

Perhaps the best thing of the whole wedding was getting to bring my camera to the reception and shoot some with Camille Beasley, an incredibley talented rising photographer out of Birmingham. Camille let me use her 50 mm lens and I had a blast. She imparted me with some tricks and words of wisdom. I have fallen in love with the art of photography and it was just great to get to spend some time practicing and hearing some new things about it from a very cool person (Camille). Camille took some great pics and you all should check out her blog...scbphotography.com. I took a few shots of the reception. Check 'em out.

the beginning and the end.

A blog, huh? I guess I'll join in.

The inspiration from this blog came from a well liked friend of mine, Chandler Parker. I have read Chandler's blog religiously and decided that I, too, had some thoughts to share, some wisdom to grace others with, as if they need or want it. But most of all, I have a love for the Saviour and I need to write about it.

I write in an attempt to use words which I can see to describe emotions that I cannot.

I must admit that starting this blog concludes a summer that has been challenging in so many different ways. Challenging, yet wonderful all in the same breath. As I look back, I realize that I have grown tremendously and that God has been teaching me every day. I think of where I was a couple of years ago from now, and it's amazing how different life is, how different I am. It's like one day I woke up and wanted God. It was all of a sudden. After I started as pianist at Rocky Mount, life has been radically different. The glory goes to God because it's nothing I've done, I'm just glad He finally opened my eyes to all that life has when walking as His. I am crazy about God and all that He has given me. I must go on boasting...

Meredith and Caleb are married!! Their wedding was outstanding and she was the most beautiful bride. I cried like a baby because Caleb's dad married them and cried almost the whole time. It was a very emotional wedding, with Meredith and Caleb crying, too. When Caleb saw Meredith for the first time coming down the aisle, emotion overwhelmed him and he fought tears, big time. It was everything a wedding should be. It was perfect. She let me carry around my camera and take pictures of everything, which I did, in a very obnoxious fashion. I am obnoxious about my camera. I got a new one...the Nikon D300. It's fabulous. Taking pictures has become an incredible passion. The best part is that it's totally from God. God has recently financially blessed Eron in a very big way, and Eron blessed me with helping me purchase the new camera. I had been talking about this camera for months and Eron looked at me a couple of weeks ago and said, "I love you and I want to encourage your passions, buy the camera." I have found the one my soul loves, to say the least. (A whole blog will be on the incredible heart of my fiance, just be ready.)

I have stored these words in my heart...it's a lot, so read it slow.
"Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God's unmerited favor to us sinners), that we may receive mercy (for our failures) and find grace to help in good time for every need (appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just when we need it).
-Hebrews 4:16 (Amplified)

It's only the beginning of this thing they call blogging...

-mary, please don't make fun of me all you people i used to make fun of bloggers with, miller
